We were selected to provide surveying and roadway design services for a section of SR-4 (Lamar Avenue/U.S. 78) from the Mississippi/Tennessee State Line to just south of Shelby Drive. This 1.4-mile section of highway includes improvements from a 4-lane divided highway to a 6-lane divided highway. The project includes the design of a tight-diamond interchange with retaining walls at Holmes Road, and improvements to the intersections of Tuggle, Old Highway 78, and Holmes Road. A major consideration for the design of the project was traffic control; we were able to maintain two lanes of traffic in both directions while phasing the construction.
