Fisher Arnold was engaged by Black & Veatch through the City of Memphis’ SARP10 Program to design a diversion sewer interceptor linking the “old” Loosahatchie interceptor pipe with the “new” Loosahatchie interceptor. The old interceptor was deteriorating, and failures were common. The project includes roughly 10,800 linear feet of 54” sewer pipe. There were several design challenges to overcome including difficult tie-in points, environmental permitting, a three-barrel siphon under the Loosahatchie River, and low terrain subject to flooding.
